SMC
Retreat 2006 (21 Oct 06)
"Seeing God in all things"
We held our annual retreat at Aloha Changi's Yacht Club Chalet.
It was a day of fun-filled activities, spiritual enrichment (with
the help of Fr. Aloy, our retreat master), and makan!

ARRIVAL
- BREAKFAST - ICE BREAKERS
Our retreat at Aloha Changi Yacht Club Chalet started with breakfast
at 9am. As "payment" for the first free meal of the
day, everyone was to reflect on God's presence in their lives.
Everyone wrote/drew little messages on colored leaves and stuck
them together to complete the tree partially created by Candice,
Lynette and Leslie (S) the previous night.
After breakfast, we had a round of introductions to help new members
and older members learn more about each other. This was followed
by icebreakers and an interesting group activity - lowering a
"helium-filled" hula hoop that can't stay down!
QUIETENING
THE SOUL
After ice-breakers, it was time to quieten down in preparation
for the spiritual portion of the retreat, led by Fr. Aloysius,
our retreat master. This was followed by group sharings facilitated
by Julia.
OUTDOOR
ACTIVITY #1 - MINEFIELD
Our first outdoor activity was really noisy and chaotic, on purpose.
The choir members were split into groups of three. One seeing
and two blindfolded ones bound together at their feet. The seeing
one had to verbally instruct their three-legged team mate to cross
a minefield, from a distance. To make matters worse, ALL the blindfolded
folks made their journey at the same time. After a couple of collisions,
a lot of frustration and some insect bites, they got through the
minefield, and learnt a little more about paying attention to
"the voice of God" as He tries to help us through the
obstacles in life.
