Maundy Thursday Church Visiting
(8 Apr 04)

After missing a year of church visiting because of the SARS crisis, our choir's back on the road again for our annual Maundy Thursday pilgrimage around Singapore Catholic Churches. (Erm.. not exactly a pilgrimage with just 4 churches, but heck... ;P)

This year, we did the Stations of the Cross at St. Joseph's Church again. We also visited the newly rebuilt Church of St Mary of the Angels. I must say this is really a new age church! Have you ever seen a crucifix with an imaginary wooden cross? Well, they've got one. Perhaps this is a message about faith... Happy are those who see not and yet believe.

The FOUR churches:
Church of St Vincent de Paul - 301 Yio Chu Kang Road ...more
Church of St Anthony - 25 Woodlands Avenue 1 ... more
Church of St Joseph - 620 Upper Bukit Timah Road ... more
Church of St Mary of the Angels - 5 Bukit Batok East Avenue 2 ... more

Please leave your mouse over the thumbnails to read the photo captions.

Hungry people - We met at 8pm and not everyone had a chance to grab a bite until they got on the bus. A steadier shot of the happy chompers, when the traffic light turned red. Erm... "L" for ?? Loo? Sorry Dav, you gotta answer the call of nature elsewhere. Not in this BUS! Our air-con coach, waiting for us outside St. Joseph's Church, where we did the Stations of the Cross.
Our Food I/C Alwyin, figuring out how to get rid of the extra curry puffs before the clock strikes 12 and Good Friday (aka Fasting Day) arrives. One can always count on Dan to stomach that extra curry puff and more. See ... one isn't enuff. He's asking for TWO more!! Reflecting on our sins, at the Church of St. Mary of the Angels where Christ hung, free from his wooden cross, but on the cross of the world. Beyond the peaceful confines of the church, parishioners gather to chat and sell Hot Cross buns.
